Two from Two.

Pontllanfraith entertained Hollybush at the Welfare ground and came out on top in a nail biting encounter to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Pont started the game on the back foot with the Hollybush backrow putting in some big runs but the home sides defence held strong and a couple of turnovers from Karl Fallon helped relieve the pressure. Eventually Hollybush's terriotory lead to a penalty which their kicker slotted over to nudge them into a lead. Hollybush continued to look strong and were in a strong attacking position with a scrum 5 meters out, but the Pont forwards drove their scrum backwards to take the scrum against the head. Pont then began to get a foothold in the game and drew the scores level with a penalty of their own. A strong run from Karl Fallon late in the first half should have produced the first try of the game, but tunnel vision prevented him from seeing Hari Miles outside him and the 2 on 1 went to waste, minutes later Hari Miles almost produced a score for himself with a fantastic run down the touchline, with one defender to beat Hari opted for the chip and chase but the Hollybush full back recoved the ball and the score remained level at 3-3 as the whistle went for HT.

The home side started the second half much better than the first and some beautiful hands from the backline sent Dan Morgan flying down the wing. 60 meters and one beaten full back later, Pontllanfraith had the only try of the match. Hollybush responded quickly with a penatly but Pontllanfraiths new look half back partnership had got the Pont backs performing exceptionally and they were denied another try when poor hands from Hari Miles let a chance go begging. A fantastic line break from Nathan Meyrick and good hands from Lee Butcher put Dan Morgan through again but this time he failed to beat the full back, but with Hollybush on the back foot they conceded a penalty and a yellow card. The penalty provided Pont with a 13-6 lead. With their main jumper in the bin, Adrian Greening and the Pont forwards were making life difficult for the opposition line out but Pont failed to make the extra man count.

However, just like last week Pont were in for another nervy last 5 minutes, another Hollybush penalty brought them to within a try but the Pontllanfraith defence held strong for the second game in a row without conceding a try and a supurb turnover from Man of the Match Adrian Greening killed the Hollybush momentum and the final whistle blew to give Pont the Victory.
