Shortnumbered Pont put to the sword by Aber.

Pontllanfraith travelled to Aberbargoed to take on one of the leagues top teams. A task made even more difficult given that Pont were travelling with a bare 15 and 4 forwards playing in the backs.

Aberbargoed wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, racking up three tries in the opening 10 minutes. Pont then managed to get into the game a bit with a succession of good driving mauls from lineout ball. Pont did manage to cross the try line but the ref ajudged (incorrectly) that the Aber defence had held the ball up. Aberbargoed added more tries either side of half time with the permited flanker from Llanhilleth making some brilliant runs.

10 minutes into the second half Ponts hard work and determination eventually paid off with two tries. Firstly the limping Chris Price dived over in the corner and then Chudd Meyrick-Parker crossed over with help of Adrian Greening.

Shortly after scoring Chris Price eventually succumb to his injury and then soon after Jay Williams also had to leave the field meaning Pont were down the 13 men for the last 15 mins and Aberbargoed ran in some more tries.

FT: Aberbargoed 66-15 Pontllanfraith

Hats off to the 15 boys who turned up and played their hearts out for the badge. Might not have got any points to show for it, but having spoke to some member of the opposition after the game, definately earned some respect.
